Dear Fabian Arrotin I cross-compiled the packages for ppc on x86 I just modified Makefile, configuration file or spec file if necessary to support to cross compile. For example, the spec file of bash package on the attachment I'm testing on PowerBook G4. --- Ngày Thứ 4, 10/02/10, centos-devel-request at centos.org <centos-devel-request at centos.org> đã viết: Từ: centos-devel-request at centos.org <centos-devel-request at centos.org> Chủ đề: CentOS-devel Digest, Vol 60, Issue 3 Đến: centos-devel at centos.org Ngày: Thứ Tư, 10 tháng 2, 2010, 0:00 Send CentOS-devel mailing list submissions to centos-devel at centos.org To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-devel or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to centos-devel-request at centos.org You can reach the person managing the list at centos-devel-owner at centos.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of CentOS-devel digest..." This conversation has gone past 2 full loops now. The only issue, as far as I can tell, not cleared up is that can packages in the stock EL4 and EL5 srpm tree be used against spacewalk 0.6 and 0.7 ? They might be 'outdated' in that perhaps all features may not be present, but is there an issue of these packages not being usable at all due to an api incompatibility ? -- Karanbir Singh kbsingh at karan.org | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh ICQ: 2522219 | Yahoo IM: z00dax | Gtalk: z00dax GnuPG Key : http://www.karan.org/publickey.asc ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 08 Feb 2010 18:14:41 +0000 From: Karanbir Singh <mail-lists at karan.org> Subject: Re: [CentOS-devel] Fasttrack for C-5 To: "The CentOS developers mailing list." <centos-devel at centos.org> Message-ID: <4B705491.2090303 at karan.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 On 28/01/10 14:33, Ned Slider wrote: >> Does the filesystem package no longer require CentOS branding changes to >> be rolled in? >> $ rpm -q filesystem >> filesystem-2.4.0-2.el5.centos.x86_64 Will look at that. > Looks like pirut still needs it's Requires for rhn components removed too. > error: Failed dependencies: > rhn-setup-gnome is needed by pirut-1.3.28-17.el5.noarch And this as well. thanks for acting as issue catcher, its good to know that stuff I farkup is going to be caught along the line :) btw, the major point of getting these packages into a repo was to work on the code that allows us to produce a package-db api. After a lot of feature creep and de-creep there is something that should mostly work. I'll post more details on that in the next few days. Also, by this weekend there should be yum-security working capability in this ft-testing repo. I'll post an email here when thats in place. -- Karanbir Singh kbsingh at karan.org | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh ICQ: 2522219 | Yahoo IM: z00dax | Gtalk: z00dax GnuPG Key : http://www.karan.org/publickey.asc ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Mon, 8 Feb 2010 18:18:00 +0000 From: Alan Bartlett <ajb at elrepo.org> Subject: [CentOS-devel] Forum thread -- "Another win for CentOS for me" To: CentOS developers mailing list <centos-devel at centos.org> Message-ID: <4e2e72e81002081018n2df9a6acjb7f7c7667733116f at mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Just an appreciative comment [1] that I pass on. The complete distro ? a ppc package ? If that's the complete disto, are your patches available somewhere ? (as some packages including glibc.ppc and kernel doesn't build for ppc by default) I'd be curious to know about all that ! :D PS : we have a centos-ppc meeting this Friday, in a pre-Fosdem meeting, to discuss about the current ppc/ppc64, and the infrastructure around it. -- Fabian Arrotin test -e /dev/human/brain || ( echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq ; echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger ) ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 02 Feb 2010 11:28:48 +0100 From: Timo Schoeler <timo.schoeler at riscworks.net> Subject: Re: [CentOS-devel] CentOS test technique To: "The CentOS developers mailing list." <centos-devel at centos.org> Message-ID: <4B67FE60.3010406 at riscworks.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed thus Fabian Arrotin spake: > NGUYEN VAN TAN wrote: >> Hi all >> >> I have built a centos for my powerpc laptop. >> Are there any techique to test the distribution? >> >> Thank you. >> >> Nguy?n V?n T?n > > What do you mean by " i've built a centos for my powerpc laptop" ? > The complete distro ? a ppc package ? > If that's the complete disto, are your patches available somewhere ? Well, I was in IRC mid December and we (z00dax, amongst others) were discussing a PowerPC port of CentOS (especially as upstream will provide a PowerPC port of RHEL6). I do have some maschines here (I also could and would like to enable shell access to), the biggest one being a dual Power4+ (1.45GHz) 275. Also, I could provide ISP services like web space, maybe CVS/SVN stuff, mailing lists etc for free. > -- > Fabian Arrotin > test -e /dev/human/brain || ( echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq ; echo c > > /proc/sysrq-trigger ) Timo ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ CentOS-devel mailing list CentOS-devel at centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-devel End of CentOS-devel Digest, Vol 60, Issue 1 ******************************************* Yahoo! Not now, but maybe in upcoming releases of Spacewalk. Spacewalk is meant to be used with the Spacewalk client tools, not the RHE ones.
