[CentOS-devel] Interested in IA64 build

I have a couple IA64 units powered off which can move to a 
datacenter and go live

The question I really have is -- it is unlikely that this, 
ppc, ppc64, and sparc [and the s390x build I have been 
working on privately] have general appeal that should 
'clutter' the mirrors in general. An 'optional' approach on 
these items seems 'fairer' as to disk real estate for them

Probably the CentOS infrastructure team need to discuss this 
as to where reference 'side architecture' CentOS builds will 
'live', outside the general mirroring


As to the s390x build mentioned ...

IBM has been kind enough to provide me with access to a 
'starter yeast build environment and added drive and ram 
resources, under a s390x [in a partial RHEL 4.4 install].  I 
have been rebuilding a Red Hat source RPM corpus (in the 
matter of the CentOS project some years ago [i.e., ** not ** 
with the buildsystem which some have speculated about in 
another mailing list earlier today]) with an eye to producing 
an unencumbered s390x CentOS-like variant of RHEL and some 
additional pieces to satisfy removal of trademark etc

Once I have a bootstrap into CentOS 5, and then 6 as time 
indicates, it may well be possible to 'wire' a ground up 
rebuild on the current CentOS builder and testing process, and 
any future builds into that current process

The 'fruit' of my rebuild would be freely available (actually 
are presently freely available, both on the unit by anonymous 
rsync).  See:

for a list of the anonymous rsync target and temporarily, 
'yum-ified' binaries are from a FTP mirror I run at:

I also have set up other support machines in bandwidth I 
control, for this project as to the sources at:

and as I say, anticipate first doing the 5 series, and then 
completing the process with the RHEL 6 beta or final sources, 
as I can 'bootstrap' up into that and as the Red Hat release 
calendar (unknown to me) provides
