Most of the point of the developer toolset was to get reasonably
modern compiler-chain tools (C++ 11 support, etc.) and you get those
natively in RHEL/CentOS7 so you don't have to install 'all the other'
packages.   Eclipse itself is relatively self-contained (like most
java applications) and capable of managing its own modules so packaged
versions are really a big win.

I'd expect it to show up here:
http://linux.web.cern.ch/linux/devtoolset/#dts21  eventually - unless
CentOS picks it up. But it doesn't seem that important until the stock
versions are outdated.  If you took your own advice and backed out to
CentOS6.x, you might want to use these.
