One must think also in terms of USB sticks nowadays. A <1GB image can be 
dd-ed to any stick. I have half a dozen or so 2GB sized leftovers 
received at a conference , initially carrying a popular antivirus. If I 
wouldn't do installs from my phone, those would be my next choice.
