An alternate approach (used by SL) is to put the modified branding changes in: %{_prefix}/lib/firefox/defaults/preferences/firefox-branding.js %{_prefix}/lib64/firefox/defaults/preferences/firefox-branding.js While this does leave the default upstream branding in the RPM, it makes re-branding super easy.
