I've always thought that the default mirrorlist scheme in the yum configuration wildly increases the load on mirror sites because when sites update multiple machines, any local http cache they go through will pull a copy from every mirror in the list instead of re-using the first copy. But, I'm even more surprised that someone hasn't glued a bittorrent-like transport into yum to automatically chunk stuff up and pull from multiple places at once with the mirror caching taking care of itself. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com
