Not to enter the specific topic (Samba). two points:

- I'm subscribed to both lists, but I think you should have written to
centos list and not centos-devel for this problem.
You would have got more answers by final users that could have similar
problems.

- I think your point here is that probably you have upgraded from 7.7 to 7.8
So your yum repo files now point to 7.8 and its updates
If you want to revert some packages to their 7.7 provided version, if
possible without breaking dependencies based on the package you want to
"rollback", you could try to also enable CentOS vault repositories (see
http://vault.centos.org/). For example using appropriate repo files
pointing to directories under http://vault.centos.org/7.7.1908/ (updates
and os)

And then try to use
sudo yum downgrade *<package_name>*-*<version_info>*

and see if it works and automatically solve dependencies.
Not tried myself. Verify on a test system first. Anyway the yum command
should ask you for confirmation before proceeeding with the downgrade.
