My apologies for not asking for more information before jumping into the
conclusion that you were still on CentOS 8. I did not do due diligence.

After reading Alexander Bokovoy's email, it is also clear that the problem
is in CentOS 8 Stream and needs some sort of fix in the composer. In the
meantime Nico's solution of --nobest may also fix the issue for you. Again
my apologies for not doing the due diligence and asking for clarification
on what OS you were running and how to replicate it like you gave later.
