If going with Drupal as CMS, (and as someone else mentioned search) I'd
recommend using ApacheSOLR search - insomuch as getting SOLR running on
CentOS could make a good Wiki article...

And I'd even be willing to contribute:

We haven't decided on the web site software yet. We are still talking
about that.

Currently I'm trying to push the web site design phase so we can finish
the blocker part... and then we can decide with what we will be serving
this designs :)

This is why we have the wireframe proposals.

You don't need to be designers to have an opinion about the site :)
