If that project is accepted, it is possible you can work with the
assigned mentor and student. The announcement for that happens by 27
April. You would need to coordinate with the mentor to see how you can
participate as a volunteer contributor.

If you'd like to help on that effort even if it is not accepted,
ideally the mentor will be willing to help you to some extent to get
started.
