Hi Our server (ftp.riken.jp) has now 10GbE LAN and WAN connectivity http://ftp.riken.jp/misc/NIC/20090327WAN.jpg We have now enough rooms for WAN bandwidths. In the CentOS 5.3 release, maximum traffic observed was 1.3 Gbps http://ftp.riken.jp/misc/NIC/CentOS53-traffic.png We are now tuning TCP parameters to increase performance of of WAN connectivity for the network research. So you can try to rsync from ftp.riken.jp::centos (with DVD) if you like. But I do not know the bandwidths between China and Japan.
