There was a similar discussion a few months ago, and I think the final answer is, the current script that returns the list is not perfect. The logic has room for improvement. That being said, you can try to run the same link (given earlier) again from another host, and see if the results are the same. Once a host makes a query, the results are cached for a certain time, so running the same request from the same host in quick succession will give you the same results. I am not sure what the default length of the duration is. In our data center, most of the time, we are returned as the top search result. But, there are times when we see other mirrors listed above us, and sometimes even ones located in Hong Kong, Singapore or even Japan! There is a current effort towards improving this feature, along with some other aspects of CentOS Mirror Infrastructure. A IRC meeting was held on Oct/25.
