[CentOS-mirror] CentOS-mirror Digest, Vol 77, Issue 6

Just a quick note to say that mirrors.igsobe.com had a drive failure, I have
put a new server together and will begin a download from another site
shortly.

This server is located on a more robust network than it's previous location
and has a 10GB link to our 140 megabit backbone.

We look forward to helping take some of the load off the other mirrors for
the release of 6.0, we will still be carrying the DVD media.

Congratulations to everyone that worked on v6.0, I am looking forward to
checking it out as well.

Hi All,

Just finished setting up some new mirrors, one of them happens to be a new
CentOS mirror. Initial sync should be completed in about 30 to 45 minutes.
Current cron job updates it 4 times daily.

http://mirror.net.cen.ct.gov/centos
No FTP Access
RSYNC - If someone would email me back on how to setup our site to be an
RSYNC server so others can RSYNC do us, I can turn that up as well.

So far it's just HTTP access.

Server is located in East Hartford, CT - USA

Bandwidth cap is basically 10GigE, we are an ISP and have multiple 10GigE
connections out to the Internet/Internet2.

Connecticut Education Network at http://www.ct.gov/cen is the sponsoring
organization.

Any else please let me know. Thanks.
Mike

wrong hostname on the setup l5 != centosl5 so the rsync acl were
not updated. It should be fixed now.

Thanks.

Incredibly slow, but it is mirroring. Just a reminder to mirrors to disable
temporarily the option to delete files when rsync'ing. Just until things
settle down a bit if you happen to connect to a mirror that's not yet fully
carrying the full 6.0 set. ;)

I seem to be rate limited to about 16mbps. Currently investigating if it's
an issue with our network or just sheer traffic on msync. Anyone else got
slower than would. Be considered normal transfer rates?

Which ip address do you get for msync.centos.org? d5.centos.org (which
is in brazil) has some issues at the moment, you might want to use a
different right now.

I've opted to skip the ISO downloads during my initial sync so that I would
have the packages that I need to work with first. Once the initial sync is
done I'll start the sync of the ISO files. This has greatly sped up the
time to test/rollout of 6.

$ rsync --progress -azH msync.centos.org::CentOS/6.0/ /data/centos/6.0/

msync.CentOS.org rsync service (centosy3)

Hi,

"eu-msync.centos.org has address 217.115.169.1
2011-07-09 11:29:46
msync.CentOS.org rsync service (centosh2)"

Above server just deleted 6.0 of our mirror, and some other updates as well.
Would it make sense to disable rsync from machines that are not yet up2date
during a major version update? That way traffic could be greatly reduced.
For now i removed --delete from the script, but in my opinion temporary
disabling rsync from out-of-date machines would be better, since it can be
better controlled.

Yes. Config error, it is getting the files right now (and only applies
if you have msync-dvd).

According to Ralph the underlying configuration issue with h2 has been
corrected and it's syncing now.

This one (I accidentally set it to sync from itself) and the y3 issues
seem to be the only issues encountered so far. The other mirrors have
their set of data.

h2 now is complete, y3 is still copying. Both problems only have arisen
when syncing the dvd tree, so normal msync.centos.org syncs didn't show
this behaviour.

That machine has 6.0 - but is really slow at the moment.
