We use those for various roles, including torrent seeders, debug + vault + msync and hosting web sites etc. And are run by us ( so we have root access, and will reinstall the machines, switch roles based on what is needed + monitor them ourselves ). In some cases, donor organisations have contributed multiple machines where we run ( so its still a .centos.org machine ) a mirror, and a second machine which might be used for msync to external mirrors etc. If this is something you are interested in doing, do get in touch - there are some areas where we are quite well seeded, like west coast US, while there are some areas where we have hardly any machines. eg.
