For comparison, I tried pulling 
http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/centos/6.5/os/i386/images/install.img

>From the University of Utah (via Internet2), I got 25 mbyte/sec (both via 
ipv4 and ipv6).

>From CenturyLink, I got 2 mbyte/sec (on a 40mbit DSL line).

Feel free to try hitting mirror.chpc.utah.edu and see if that does better 
for you.
