When 7.3.xxx is eventually released, both 7.2.1511 and 7.3.xxx will be on the mirrors at the same time. 7.2.1511 takes up around 48 GB (including updates), and 7.3.xxx will also be a few tens of gigabytes. The same principle will apply to 5.x and 6.x branches as well. Something like 200-250 GB of disk space would probably be sufficient for most cases.
