Hello Nahid, hello Mohammad, it is not about you guys being personally „bad guys“, I doubt that anyone thinks that way. It is about various regulations, not only by the USA, but also by European governments and countries, for example Germany, France and UK. For me it is totally sensible to not allow security related software to be hosted in countries that have proven to be bad for our security. Additionally it is protecting you guys from getting into the focus of the real “bad guys” when you not host stuff that could be interesting to be manipulated before being distributed. I don’t see big technical means to do something bad by making an “infested CentOS-Mirror” that then harms security somewhere, but I am very sure you don’t want to research that together with Iranian government-spooks. ;-) mit freundlichem Gruß Christian Freund Von: CentOS-mirror [mailto:centos-mirror-bounces at centos.org] Im Auftrag von Mohammad Oshaghi Gesendet: Mittwoch, 7. CentOS has prohibited Iran and some other countries because of U.S. Export Administration Regulations (the “EAR”) <https://www.centos.org/legal/> even thought CentOS is under GNU GPL<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CentOS> (Source Wikipedia) . Another ridiculous thing is that CentOS has not clarify the exact CentOS license in their website. I have tried but they react like we are bad guys with all respect I think you should mirror a private mirror for your users and/or data center. If you want you can email me directly ( on email ) I would be happy to help you.
