[CentOS-virt] Cannot get kvm guests to connect to network

It may turn out that I have inadvertently some configuration value set
incorrectly but at the moment it seems to me to be a problem with
virt-manager.  Basically, new guest instances are having this put into
their definition file by virt-manager:

>     <interface type='network'>
>       <mac address='52:54:00:6c:35:1a'/>
>       <source network='default'/>

when it should be:

>     <interface type='bridge'>
>       <mac address='52:54:00:6c:35:1a'/>
>       <source bridge='br0'/>
