I wrote a pretty simple howto for redhat 9 - centos 3.1 a while back. I know of a few that have gone from 7.3 to centos 3.1, with this howto, so perhaps it may help in your case. Correct me if I am wrong but centos 2 is based off or redhat 7.2, so it may work.
