to /etc/grub.conf has always worked for me on every dual boot Win2k, XP, 2k3 / linux boxes I have ever built.
Install Windows first then install Linux. You do not need a kernel that has NTFS support and you don't have to play with NTLDR.
I know that this goes against just about every Dual-Boot HOWTO you will find on the net.
It just works. It has on every dual-boot install I have ever done.

Doing this alone won't help, as the Cent OS kernel doesn't have
support for NTFS File System. (Which Windows XP Uses by default)
