I just tried it in a CentOS 4 VMware virtual machine and I had the same
problem reported in the bugs.
I sent a bunch of messages to a pop account, and downloaded the messages
with Evolution. I then read a couple of messages, closed Evolution, and
reopened it. The messages I had read were still marked read - this is
good.
I then read two more messages, but this time logged out of Gnome without
closing Evolution. When I logged back in and opened Evolution, the
messages I had just read were marked as unread. The two messages from
the previous test were still marked read.
I've repeated the second test a few times; in every case it's been
reproduced.
Could you try my second test out and let me know if Evolution develops
amnesia for you, too?
Thanks,
Ranbir
