Yes, the 4000+ is 2.4GHz.

Ouch.  Sounds like that's where your problem is.  If you have
fluttering bus arbitrators/controllers, then that absolutely
kills performance.

Yep, there are your modes.  Again, your 4000+ is a 2.4GHz.
