Yep, that's option #4.  Especially when used with the CUPS
driver for Windows.

You can still fetch those PPD files for use with #3, but it
requires manual intervention.

Yep.  It's a PITA each time you add a printer.

On a smaller network with 1-2 printers, do it once, forget
it.

But on larger network, with more printers or -- better yet --
changing printers, it's a Godsend.  Especially when you have
certain printers choking due to users killing settings,
things that you can override (like removing options).

Unless you're installing several different printer drivers on
a Windows client, and the vendor drivers start conflicting.
