Hello, I have this problem with my home computer, when i start the computer i get this message: Bug 8254 IO-APIC Timer not connected....... Searching in Google i found severals threads about this, someone says add acpi=off to your grub, some others says add acpi=ht, etcetera, I already test all I have found, and every time I turn off the machine always stay on "power off" and nothing happends. Right now I am using acpi=ht on my grub, if I use acpi=off olny shows 1 processors instead of 2. Anybody out there have an idea of what is going on this? Any help is a appreciated P4 3.0 Ghz HT EM64T LGA-755 1 GB RAM 1 SATA 120 GB (sda) 2 ATA 80GB (hda & hdb) Motherboard Gigabyte 8S661FXM-775 SELinux disabled. uname -r 2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp uname -a Linux chafiux 2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Oct 27 13:14:25 CDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661FX/M661FX/M661MX Host (rev 11) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS AGP Port (virtual PCI-to-PCI bridge) 00:02.0 ISA bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS964 [MuTIOL Media IO] (rev 36) 00:02.5 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 5513 [IDE] (rev 01) 00:02.7 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller (rev a0) 00:03.0 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f) 00:03.1 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f) 00:03.2 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f) 00:03.3 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 2.0 Controller 00:05.0 IDE interface: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] RAID bus controller 180 SATA/PATA [SiS] (rev 01) 00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905B 100BaseTX [Cyclone] (rev 30) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (rev a1)
