No, Cyrus-IMAPd uses its own mail storage, whether offered by POP3 or IMAP. It is very different to other mail access servers in this regard (and thus a point of critic by some people). Please read its documentation or you get unhappy very quickly. Said that I see the nice and helpful mail by Aleksandar - but it does not exchange to read through the docs to have a complete understanding.
