That being said, the main developer of apt has stopped developing apt for RPM and has moved on to a new thing called "Smart Package Manager": http://labix.org/smart Smartpm works with CentOS-4.x ... it does not work with CentOS-3.x. From rom the Smartpm FAQ: "Smart does not support old-style YUM repositories, only the newer XML- based RPM-MD format."
