CentOS follows the upstream and CentOS 4 support is much longer than Fedora Core. The upstream provider calls these updates and for support updates have to be applied as released. CentOS provides the ability to "freeze" at a .X that is not available from the upstream provider. Since this is not provided upstream it will not receive updates.
