you can use  the  www.postgresql.org   redhat binaries :

http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/binary/v8.1.3/linux/rpms/redhat/rhel-es-4/

if you use   php or perl  o dovecot  or any other dependency to 
postgresql  you must  rebuild  those  rpms  with the  postgresql 8.1.3 
installed
and do this  every time there's an update for those rebuilded  packages
