Just so it's in the archive...

I figured out the problem.

I needed to specify the proper domain.

mount.cifs //osirus.ficticious.org/inetpub /inetpub 
-ouser=transfer,pass=dkfhjdjskd,domain=FICTDOMAIN

works just fine.
