[CentOS] syslog to serial term spits out garbage SOLVED

thanks folks! 
stty -F /dev/ttyS0 clocal 19200 cs8
did the job. i put it in rc.local just before my serialport lockfile is 
created and it works like a charm. thanks for the help.
