Your wifi card is supposed to support WEP. However, make sure that
is what you are using, cause it won't support WPA.

As a side note, I have noticed some WEP incompatibility between
different manufacturers when using WEP keys longer than 54 bits.
That also might be your problem.

You might want to check if the driver has any debug options.
