I think if you're familiar with general networking concepts and comfortable with CLIs then you can configure a Cisco, at least on a relatively basic level, without much in the way of help. I've configured 72xx series routers with multiple interfaces in the past just from reading how-tos like these: http://www.joshgentry.com/cisco/cisco.htm http://www.akadia.com/services/cisco_router_firewall.html Obviously this wasn't for widescale production use, just for internal routing/testing so his milage may vary depending on what he needs to configure.
