As I wrote already, the argument of HELO/EHLO is in $s (well, you'd use delayed expansion in rulesets to get what you really want, so you would actually use $&s). When sendmail reads its configuration file, $s contains the name of the local host. After HELO/EHLO it will be assigned whatever was the argument of HELO/EHLO.
