I've got a few Supermicro boards like that too. When I need Hardware RAID, I just drop a 3Ware card in and call it a day. If you've got the spare cpu cycles, Linux's software RAID is pretty mature and quite fast. I was using it *in production* environments back in the late 90's. Cheers,
