rpmforge (I presume this is what you are referring to with Dries' wx
rpm's) is wxGTK-2.4.2-5.2 and pgadmin3 source rpm's clearly want
wxGTK-2.6.x

so unless I were to locate a much older version of pgadmin3 that might
have satisfied itself with wxGTK-2.4.2 - I cannot build.

Of course, I am willing to learn new tricks...
