You might consider adding some flotsam to the end of the Release tag 
(typically defined near the top of the spec file) so rpm recognizes 
the new rpms as upgrades.

The current release is, I believe,

   Version : 4.3.9
   Release : 3.12

You might consider making your locally built to be Release 
"3.12.local" or something like that. If you use the same appendix for 
all locally rebuilt packages, it's easy to spot them in an "rpm -qa" 
list.
