[CentOS] CentOS 3.8 and ESS ES1878 sound chip?

Hmmm...  After a bit more Googling, it seems the problem might be that
the onboard sound card is ISA.  Is there an easy way to get isapnp
kernel module for CentOS 3.8, other than recompiling the kernel (don't
have compilers and stuff on the machine, the compilation would probably
take about forever on that old laptop, and I doubt there's enough disk
space to do it)?
