Jim's link looks nice ... here is another option.

I highly recommend the below guide.  It has LDAP enabled samba and works
well (read everything to understand the working of Samba ... then do the
LDAP section.)

(This is not Active Directory but NT type domains, as ADS is not
supported in samba-3)
