[CentOS] Can't get ipw2200 to work in CentOS 5 on Dell laptop

It's now on the hardware tab OK and says ipw2200 eth1 ethernet configured!
However, what I just don't understand (and sorry if I'm being dumb!) is why
the "new" adapter just doesn't show up in the list of adapters on the
devices tab as Intel Coporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG or some such. So the
problem is when I try to set up eth1 with all the necessary wireless info
(WEP key etc), I can't do it because I can't select the right adapter!
I'm sure I'm nearly there, but this last "small step for man" is proving to
be a bit of "a giant leap...."!

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but you do need to reboot after adding
the line to /etc/modprobe.conf.  Memory is hazy as I have not done this
for quite a while, but I believe you also need to add the adapter in
system-config-network with "New" on the "Devices" tab.  It does have to
show up on the "Hardware" tab for this to work.

Assuming you get that far, it is good to create separate profiles to use
when you move from wired to wireless.  These can be selected at boot
time by adding "netprofile="MyProfileName" (in my case MyProfileName can
be "Wired", "WiFi", or a few other location-dependent values) to the
kernel line in /boot/grub/grub.conf - otherwise defaults to the last
used profile.  Can either manually edit at boot time (requires you to
remember the legal profile names) or maintain separate grub stanzas for
different profiles.
