I don't use SNMP for this.
On my CentOS 5 machines, I've installed:
rpm -i /mnt/temp/centos/data1/psp/hpasm-7.8.0-88.rhel5.i386.rpm
/mnt/temp/centos/data1/psp/cmanic-7.8.0-3.rhel5.linux.rpm
/mnt/temp/centos/data1/psp/hpadu-7.80-6.linux.rpm
/mnt/temp/centos/data1/psp/hpsmh-2.1.8-177.linux.i386.rpm
and I use Big Brother to watch the status of temperatures, etc.,
by calling /sbin/hplog (from the hpasm package).
This is on a ML370G3.
