(Trying again ... the centos.org server is apparently blocking at least one gmail server, says it's on the multihop DSBL.) I had to go to sun's page for downloading old releases and get the 1.5.0_09 JDK because jpackage doesn't appear to have the compat package RPMs for 1.6 yet.
