It is recommended you NOT install from CPAN if you would like to maintain the integrity of your CentOS system. RPMforge and Karan's Extras repositories already provide a lot of perl modules in RPM format. You can also use tools such as cpan2rpm and cpanflute to create RPMs for modules that don't already exist there. See http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories for more details on those repos.
