P.S. to last reply: uname -a gives:

Linux cmi2400 2.6.9-42.ELsmp #1 SMP Sat Aug 12 09:39:11 CDT 2006 i686 
i686 i386 GNU/Linux

i.e. kernel 2.6.9 (< 2.6.14). I guess my original question stands: is 
this burner supported under CentOS 4.4 ?
