[CentOS] CentOS 5 hung while "Checking dependencies..."

Something else I've tried when an OS or hardware misbehaves... remove ALL 
power - AC cord for a desktop, battery and DC adapter for a laptop.  Let 
stand for 30 minutes.   Rinse and repeat as necessary.
