I memtest'ed, as you suggest, before this attempt to install. 
(This is the 2nd attempt; the 1st one was cumbered with errors 
related to mediacheck.)
The test (default settings, ~4hrs, 5 passes) was w/o errors.
I guess there is no harm in memtest'ing more.
