Hi,
I just noticed that the function is already in CentOS 5, but is disabled.
To enable for the current user open a terminal and type (on one line if it wraps):

gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/user_switch_enabled TRUE

then activate the screensaver (for testing):

gnome-screensaver-command -a

for system-wide use, as root (always one line):

gconftool-2 --direct --config-source
xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/ --type bool --set
/apps/gnome-screensaver/user_switch_enabled TRUE
