I've Intel DG31PR with almost same Realtek chipset. Disabling / enabling on board LAN from the BIOS works flawlessly. You can make sure if the board is certified at hardware.redhat.com. I guess to test kernal you can use CentOS Live CD and the dmesg tool as well. Good luck!
