To enable for the current user open a terminal and type (on one line if it wraps): gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/user_switch_enabled TRUE then activate the screensaver (for testing): gnome-screensaver-command -a for system-wide use, as root (always one line): gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/ --type bool --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/user_switch_enabled TRUE (source: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeScreensaver/FrequentlyAskedQuestions) regards Lorenzo Quatrini
