Something like this?

find . -exec grep -q "$1" '{}' \; -print | while read BLOCKFILE; do
    grep -iv "$1" $BLOCKFILE > $BLOCKFILE.new
    mv -f $BLOCKFILE.new $BLOCKFILE
done
