[CentOS] Yum not updating kernel

Bob, so it appears the above did work?

I don't recall what exactly I said was the same on my system as
yours... but, my /etc/rpm/platform is:

  i686-redhat-linux

rpm is:

  rpm-4.4.2-47.el5

And I am running a Pentium 4 CPU, so there is a significant difference
there obviously. :)
